VICTORY PILL IS THE BRAINCHILD OF 'PITCHSHIFTER AND FORMER PRODIGY GUITARIST' JIM DAVIES.

Rock / Electronica / Industrial

Band Members

  • Jim Davies - Guitars, vocals, programming
  • Kieron Pepper - Bass, backing vocals, programming, production
  • Pete Crossman - Production, live synths/beatz
  • Alex Baker - live drums

Victory Pill hail from my home county of Essex, United Kingdom.

Having seen Victory Pill support Static X earlier in the year* which was a pleasant surprise, I've been patiently waiting for the release of their first album. The release date was slightly postponed, out of the bands hands apparently.

I'm not going to review the album track by track, suffice to say that the whole album flows well together.
Being a lover of House, Trance, Drum n Bass.. Electro music, this fits very well into my Tech Metal playlists and will get plenty of playing. If you know and like any of Pitchshifter's music, I'm sure you will love this.

I'm not keen on comparing bands, I feel a band should stand up for itself on it's own merits, and this certainly does.
Brilliantly produced, thoroughly enjoyable and no elements of cheese anywhere. It's a great listen and serious too. The vocals work well for the band which gives it a slightly "Punky" feel.

Without comparing too heavily with other bands, you can liken this to some of The Prodigy's later albums, without any of the cheese, not to take any credit away from The Prodigy as I like their music too. Like I said, this is quite a serious album.

I hope we get some good years out of this band.. I can see myself becoming quite a fan. While not heavy at all, the songs all stand out and are more than able to be played alone, meaning singles and radio air play.
The electro/synth elements work perfectly complimenting the guitars and drums.

Only complaint.. it's a bit too easy to listen to, I'm so used to blindingly heavy music these days.
If thats my only complaint.. Victory Pill have done a great job with their debut.

Saw em at a great little intimate venue  (The Joiners) a few months ago laugh

Wasn't a very good turnout being on a weeknight (probably about 20 people watching plus some in the bar? quote lol for such a great band) but whatever, blah blah blah.

(just made a random return to show my face - apologies for the absence)

Checked out some of their myspace tracks... sounds good!  Have to give them more of a serious listen later.
